It is currently minus you have got to be kidding me in my corner of Canada, and it's about to drop to why the hell do I live here anyway below zero, so I am making soup. Lots of soup. On Friday night, I made my version of kale and potato soup with turkey sausage, in which I replaced the turkey sausage with regular sausage to ensure that I maximized the calories*. Then the following day, I made my old standby of peanut sweet potato soup, which is always tasty. Mmmmm.
Leftovers!
Despite now having ten servings of soup stashed away in my freezer, I'm longing to make more...and to try new recipes. So I'm challenging everyone to share their favourite soup recipe(s) with me! Post a recipe (or link to a recipe) in the comments, and if I cook it I promise to share photos along with a link to your blog (if desired and applicable). Or, feel free to post a recipe/photo on your own blog and share the link in the comments. In particular, I'd love to find soup recipes that freeze well, taste good (obviously), and are somewhat healthy (despite my previous comment about making my kale/potato/sausage soup as unhealthy as possible).
And now, to dig out the really thick sweaters from the back of my closet. This is shaping up to be a really long winter.
*In fairness, this wasn't intentional; I simply live near a small grocery store that doesn't carry fancy things like turkey sausage. And that was out of kale for the first time in what seems like ever on the day that I wanted to buy it. Fortunately pre-washed baby spinach made for a very good substitute.

Love this soup and made it tonight. Freezes well. Though I try to defrost in the fridge prior to microwaving to reheat.

I made this one today!

Except that I added zuccini, carrots, and green beans to it and left out the green peppers (because I hate them!!)
My only guess is that you either live in Manitoba or Saskatchewan...Calgary was a balmy -15 today.
Wow! And here I was upset that it's been raining/cloudy for 2 weeks.. now I'm thankful that it's at least in the 70's.
I've made this soup numerous times in the past couple of months, but I have no idea how it freezes because Swede eats it all before I can do a test run. I can't blame him, it's pretty darn tasty!

I alternate between a regular sweet potato soup and this one here, only a few ingredients which makes life easy. I don't even bother with the creme fraiche. It is really tasty

Peanut sweet potato soups sounds good. Been trying smoothies with kale included and they are only tolerable.
This is the best soup ever. Ever!

I just finished the last of it for breakfast today.
PS I just got dumped. I am now at a Table for One, again. I give up:(
BobandTammie - Sounds tasty, but I'm not sure I can find the poblano peppers in my small Canadian city. Will have to look for them or for a suitable substitute.
NOLA - Oooh, those both look really tasty, and I love that they're vegetarian. I'm trying to adjust the meat to vegetable ratio in my diet, so these will help.
Elena - Sounds tasty. I have a few containers of frozen chili to get through in my freezer first, but I'll keep it in mind for when they're done.
KP - It is entirely possible that you're correct. ;)
Anonymous - 70 F sounds wonderful, with or without rain. I'd just like to be able to leave my parka at home for a few days.
Molly - Sounds yum. I have no idea where to start with all of these recipes!
Sharron - Thanks! I've been looking for a good butternut squash soup recipe, as I've loved it when I've had it in restaurants but haven't found a good recipe yet.
NP Odyssey - I strongly recommend trying the sweet potato soup. Blending it is a bit of a pain (would be easier if you had an immersion blender), but it's otherwise pretty simple to make.
MomTFH - That just plain sucks. Down with men!
Well, if the whole "doctor" thing doesn't work out, you can always open a fancy, upscale soup restaurant... or become the Soup Nazi of Canada!
